                    Do's and Don't
Since the lifestyle & culture in INDIA is different then West, important DO’s & DONT’S are mentioned below for making the trip hassle free particularly for the first time visitor.

General

  • Carry your passport, other travel documents, your money & other valuables always with you.
  • Carry the contact numbers/ addresses of the agents, hotels, and representatives at different places.
  • Make sure that your luggage is always labeled with your name and address.
  • We strongly recommend to take Travel Insurance covering all risks including illness, theft, accidental etc.
  • Always take Cash encashment certificate when you exchange foreign currency.
  • Do not encourage beggars & touts.
  • Make others understand whatever you say, speak slowly and repeat the things. Chances are that whatever you are sa y may be misunderstood due to the differences in accent.
  • Donot take Photograph of women without permission.
  • Never point your fingure towards any person since it is taken as sign of annoyance.
  • Donot visit any place encouraging Social injustice , inhuman practice , orthodoxy etc.

When at s/seeing places

  • Be very cautious when dealing with street sellers outside the sightseeing venues.
  • Always arrange for an approved guide in advance through your reliable agent. Use licensed guides for sightseeing - if not arranged in advance.
  • Understand the entry, exit & parking points of the location -where your car & chauffeur would wait for you. Listen to your driver's advises carefully.
  • Always note the permitted areas for Photography and follow the instructions ( Penalties apply if you break these rules).

When at temples

  • Always remove your shoes while entering a worship place like Temple, Gurudwara, Dargah etc.
  • Parikrama i.e. walking around the sanctum sanctorum to be in clockwise direction, always.
  • Photography is restricted in most temples - please check before taking any pictures.
  • Dress conservatively - some of the temples don't allow travelers in shorts & half pants. Also do not wear black clothes when visiting a Hindu or a Jain temple.

When in the hotel

  • Always cross check your bills properly at the Hotels at the time of check out to avoid unnecessary payments which may be raised through oversight or any other reason.
  • Always put your cash & valuables in the Hotel safe - wherever available. If left in room - make sure that the same are not left openly but are kept safely.
  • TIPS - as such there is no general trend for tipping. It is suggested that you tip at the end of the stay rather then on every service. Tips range anywhere from 5 - 10% of the amount

When eating out in restaurants

  • Always drink safe mineral water and take well-cooked food - take reference from your Agent or Driver for best eating options.
  • Be very clear when ordering food; speak slowly as waiters are often seen misunderstanding the order due to difference in accent.
  • Spicy food - most of the restaurants normally serve spicy food. Explain properly and as per your taste while ordering.

When shopping out

  • Buy at genuine shops only - get recommendations from your agent. Bargaining is a popular practice in India and necessary too. Take care.
  • Always ask for bills when you purchase goods to make the entire transaction legal and transparent. So that you may claim later if dissatisfied

When traveling

  • f traveling by Public transportation mode - always book in advance & posses your ticket throughout the journey Do not show your ticket to anyone except the authorized ticket inspector.
  • Always use strong suitcases/baggage & name luggage tags since mishandling is common at airports/stations.
  • While traveling, don't act confused. Keep posture alike a person known to the region.
  • While traveling by Trian. always travel in reserved class, don't eat anything offered by fellow travelers, chain & lock your luggage under your berth ,carry plenty of Water & fluids If a lone woman is traveling request for the seat near a woman .
  • Women traveling alone should not walk at odd hours
