Canter Tours welcomes you to
explore Ladakh, the land of endless discovery. Rafting through
the Indus River which passes through Canyons in the Ladakh and
Zanskar ranges the landscape is breath taking. From the river,
ancient gompas and monasteries, many containing frescoes and
statues 750 or 820 years old can be seen. The icy cold and clear
water of the Indus River offers variations for all grades of
enthusiasts. It combines a wilderness white water trip on the
run through the barren valley on either side. The best time to
raft this river is in July - October.
Day 1 : Arrive Delhi
On arrival at the airport you will be met by the Canter Tours
representative and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Delhi
Day 2 : Delhi - Leh
In the morning after breakfast transfer to the airport to board flight
for Leh. On arrival you will be met by Indian Horizons
representative and transfer to the hotel. Day free for
acclimatization.. Overnight at Leh
Day 3 : In Leh
In the morning after breakfast proceed to visit Sankar monastery which
is situated on the valley floor. Afternoon free at leisure.
Evening proceed to Ladakh Ecological center to see a small
documentary film on Ancient Heritage of Ladakh. Overnight at Leh
Day 4 : Leh - Thiksey
In the morning after breakfast drive 50 kms to visit the famous Hemis
Monastery which has some of the most precious Tankhas, silver
Stupas and enshrines statues of various Buddhist god and
goddesses. Later drive back to Stakna. Upon arrival meet the
Rafting team includes the Raft driver and helper. Proper
instruction for Rafting as well as safety techniques shall be
given. Wear the life jacket and begin a thrilling white water
rafting along river Indus. Raft along smooth river to reach
Thiksey. Enroute stop at Stakna Bridge and have Lunch. Afternoon
Raft again and stop at Thiksey and check-in at the camps.
